This is a quilt that I made for a friend who is going through a rough patch. It is a happy quilt to wrap around her and help her feel better.
It also means that if you have a regular life at all, there aren't enough hours in the day.
I don't have much more to say about feathers except that the more you do them, the better they get. That is true of all machine quilting designs. You also have to begin with pencil and paper. It's the only way to learn how to do a new design. Please check out Ivory Spring's blog which is linked from the lower right hand blog list. She is also talking about feathers right now. Read everything you can get your hands on about feathers. Everyone has different tips so also take classes whenever you can.
I also want to share this magazine. Machine Quilting Unlimited is my absolute favorite quilting magazine. The newest issue is by far the best they have ever put out and it will be in my reference material from now on. Every single article was worth my time to read carefully and I learned some new techniques that I am going to test out and see how they work for me. Please check out their web page www.mqumag.com and magazine. If you love machine quilting--you will love this magazine. It is all for us! There is even an article on Flurry Feathers by Jamie Wallen.
After all that, I will let you in on a little bit of what is going on around my house. First of all, we have a new puppy. Meet Beau, our 10 week old golden retriever. What was I thinking getting a new puppy? It has been 25+ years since I trained a puppy! On top of that--we are building a house. No, the foundation isn't poured yet but we hope to get started in August. That just means we are at the end of the planning stage. Yes, it does have a very large sewing studio in it and I just keeping dreaming of that room to keep me going. I don't know if my sanity is going to survive this all. I may be asking for all kinds of advice from those of you who have survived this process--the house--although advice on the puppy is greatly appreciated!
